Advising Road Map

Schedule of Current Classes Being Offered

Advising allows students to integrate into the academic life of the University which ensures success toward graduation. Therefore, students are highly encouraged to seek and select an advisor as soon as they get accepted into the University. Advisors should be chosen based on the background of the professors and the research interest of the students. Once the advisor is chosen, then students should follow the following advising road map with their advisor as they go through the graduate program:

(1) Orientation
Upon notification of acceptance, candidates are invited to a personal and a general orientation to the program. First, each candidate sets up a meeting with the coordinator of the program to plan the courses and the activities in which they will be involved during their graduate work in the program. In the general orientation all students are invited to come on campus to meet their professors, their advisor, and their fellow students. In this orientation students are given more information and they are asked to select an advisor. Furthermore, students are given an advising form and they are asked to complete the form with their advisors. A copy of the form is given back to them for their records and the other copies are kept in their files. This form specifies that the student will take six sequential core courses that include EDUI 6110, EDUI 6200, EDUI 6300, EDUI 6420, EDUI 6500, and EDUI 6600. In addition to the core courses, students are advised to carefully select their elective courses based on their area of specialization. They are also advised to either take a thesis or a Master degree Project for the completion of their graduate work.
